One day in the Spring of 2009 I was about to leave my studio after a days work when what to my wondering eyes did I see? Parents and signets, one, two, three. I had been watching the nest which I could see out my studio window down near the mouth of the Fraser River. I was so delighted to see the babies I rushed out with my camera and snapped away. Painting them became an even greater joy knowing all three have survived to adolescence. One of them is the subject of the painting called Emerging.
